Are Pesticides Bad for Us?
If you want to learn more about pesticides, I recommend the following site. The Northwest Alliance for Alternatives to Pesticides has an amazing website. The articles in it are all science based (I am trained as a scientist, by the way) and yet they represent it in a way that is completely understandable for people with no scientific training. For those who have scientific training, the references are all there, and come from a mixture of government documents, legal files, and refereed journals. It is a very impressive and important site.
In particular, I recommend the following articles as particularly useful:
Does spray drift occur under normal conditions?
Are our water supplies contaminated with agricultural chemicals?
Are there chemicals in our food, and are they safe?
Is glyphosate (Roundup) really as safe as the chemical companies claim?
NCAP has a LOT of information about specific chemicals, or about overview topics. And it will confirm for you that you want to eat organic food.
I am adding a link here to a paper that I have written called Escape the Experiment, which has been published in a regional newspaper and two booklets and circulated to chemical applicators without any criticism or comment from the chemical companies. I think it brings a number of facts together in a way that helps this picture make sense.
